What Causes Eczema?
Eczema is thought to be hereditary, so if your parents or people in your family have eczema, it might be more likely for you to have it.
The sensitive, eczematous skin that you inherited works differently than healthy skin. Normal, healthy skin has an “outer skin barrier” that is made up of cells held together with lipids, like brick and mortar. This structure helps to keep moisture in while keeping irritants out. People with eczema have a weak “outer skin barrier,” which means that there are “holes” in the layer that usually protects their skin. This results in skin that easily loses moisture and lets irritants in, causing dryness and itchiness.
Once irritants have entered your skin, it triggers itch and irritation, which causes the urge to scratch. Scratching can aggravate and cause flares.
NEOSPORIN® ECZEMA ESSENTIALS® Daily Moisturizing Cream with colloidal oatmeal relieves itch due to eczema on contact while also helping to restore the skin’s natural barrier function. This helps to break the itch-scratch cycle. Its unique RELIPID® formula helps retain moisture essential for healthy-looking skin.
As experts in skin health, the makers of NEOSPORIN® developed the NEOSPORIN ESSENTIALS® line with a deep understanding of what people with eczema need—gentle cleansing, relief of eczema symptoms and an effective solution for healthier skin.
